Social Media Etiquette In 2019

It’s 2019 and social media has become the main part of our everyday process. As it has become more and more popular, some social media behaviors have become more accepted. It’s important to consider what is pushing it in terms of modern social media etiquette!

A team from influence.com sought to find out what was not acceptable in social media etiquette in their latest report. Their researchers interviewed 986 people to receive some insights into acceptable, and unacceptable, social practices, which has provided an interesting overview of what people really think about modern-day social media.

The number one social media offense was bullying others in comments while sharing discriminatory content and posting fake news came in a close second and third place. People clearly believe that on social media kindness and honesty are a top priority.

And while the top three offenses are what you would expect, there was one that is important for businesses to listen to. The researchers learned that excessive hashtag use is among the most inappropriate social behaviors. This is crucial information, especially for those companies that use Instagram as their main platform.
