What To Do In Atlanta This July

It’s finally July - time really flies when you’re in quarantine! It seems to be only up from here though with businesses slowly reopening and restaurants beginning to serve again. So, this begs the question, what can you do in Atlanta this July? We’ve compiled a fun list of things that you can do to keep busy during this month that may give you a sense of what life was like before all of this craziness!

1.      Piedmont Park

An Atlanta staple, Piedmont Park is the place to be on sunny days. Grab a group of friends and have some fun! If you want to have lunch at the park, Park Tavern is now open and seating people (and their buffalo cauliflower is a must). This is also a great option as they have outdoor seating which makes it easy to keep your distance from others and breathe some fresh air. After this, you can walk around and see everything going on at the park. If you are still wary of sitting in restaurants, you can always bring your lunch and have a picnic in the park. Grab a pub-sub and don’t forget a blanket or two for you and your friends to sit on!

2.     The Beltline

Whether you want to walk, run, bike, skate, or scoot, the Beltline is the place for you. Enjoy this beautiful July weather by spending your time outdoors. On the Beltline, you can also see a great view of the Atlanta skyline, and if you’re wanting a little snack or a refreshment after a hot day you can pop into one of the restaurants along the way. Some insta- worthy stops include New Realm Brewery and Ladybird, just to name a few. This is also something you could combine with Piedmont Park since you can hop right on the Beltline from the Piedmont Park entrance.

3.     Stone Mountain

If you want to stay more active now that you’re finally out of quarantine, take a hike! I can’t count the number of times that I have climbed Stone Mountain while living in Atlanta, but no matter what, it is always just as rewarding once you reach the top. If you want to switch things up to avoid climbing this mountain in the midday heat, try going at sunrise or sunset. The sky is always beautiful and it will be just a little bit cooler on the way up.

4.     Avalon

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for the day, take a trip up North to Alpharetta and visit the Avalon. This shopping center has everything you could imagine from stores to restaurants and it’s all outdoors so you can get your fresh air as you bop from place to place. Most stores are open, but they are enforcing limited capacity, so be prepared that you may have to wait in a line. The restaurants are open as well and they have patio seating. You also always have the option to order take out and eat your food on the lawn!

5. The Battery

Unfortunately, the Braves aren’t playing any games at the moment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go to the Battery for a fun evening with friends and family. The restaurants and shops around the Braves field are all open and waiting for you to come visit.  It may not be the ballpark experience that you remember from previous years, but it’s as close as we can get for now!

This is just a short list of things you can do this summer. By no means have we covered everything you can do in Atlanta because if we’re being honest that would be nearly impossible! Also, before visiting any businesses make sure to check online before you make the trip, as many places have new or altered hours due to COVID-19. Of course, only do things that you are comfortable with and always take the proper precautions! Continue to social distance and grab a mask before you head out the door. We hope this list gives you a glimpse of the possibilities for the rest of this summer and gets you excited about life after quarantine!
