Great Websites For Design Inspiration

Being a designer doesn’t mean inspiration is always there. Sometimes you find yourself in a lull, or maybe just feeling very uninspired. Since business can’t come to a screeching halt, it’s important for you to always be able to pull yourself out of these moments. This is why I always recommend keeping a few places/websites in your back pocket to help you find your inspiration!

The one place that never ceases to inspire me is Pinterest. If you don’t have an account, leave this blog and go make one right now! I have been a part of this community for so long, I find myself browsing through Pinterest in my free time. The reason that I find Pinterest to be my number one pick for inspiration is for the sheer randomness that comes from it. Once I log on and go to my home page, it’s not filled with just websites, newsletters, and logos! Instead, I find, artwork, interior design, places to travel, DIY crafts, and the list could go on and on. However, my point rests on the fact that inspiration comes from all different areas of your life. So yes, you might be looking for something specific like website branding language, and in this case the search bar will be your friend. But for those times that you are just feeling uninspired in general, come to Pinterest and I can guarantee you will feel the creativity come creeping back in!

Another great website to check out is Dribble. Dribble is an online community where designers showcase their own artwork. So this is place to go if you are interested in seeing solely graphic design. This is the perfect place to check out if you are looking for inspiration in branding, web design, and illustration. The quality of the artwork is coming from talented designers and not just anyone that can use Photoshop. Dribble is also a great way to connect with other designers and it can serve as your very own design portfolio platform. Side note: they have also included a feature where you can use their platform to get hired! The website allows for employers to post a job opening, as well as search through designers they might want to hire.

Behance is another great online community for designers! I personally only use Behance on certain occasions, but I know designers that love it. They have such a large assortment of artwork, it’s so easy to find inspiration. Behance is similar to Dribble in the way that you will primarily find graphic design inspiration. I don’t say this as a bad thing either! I only want to encourage you to find which outlet works best for you. I personally find inspiration in more of an abstract way, whereas a lot of people like to see more illustrations, motion graphics, photography, etc.

In addition to the websites and places, I always recommend taking a step back from your work, stepping outside, and then coming back with fresh eyes! You would be surprised what a little Vitamin D can do for you! Hopefully, I have given you a few places to find inspiration during those dreaded design lulls.
